When you have farmed and harvested produce for more than 70 years, why not harvest sunlight to help the commercial viability of your business? When the partners of Millets Farm became aware that a £30k per month electrical energy cost increase was likely, they were very keen to find a solution.
Working alongside the client's Renewable Energy Consultant, we finalised the design of an 800kW ground mount array to complement the client's existing 15-year-old solar installations. From November onward, the site was a hive of activity: meters of ducting installed, concrete bases for GRP enclosure constructed, and thousands of stanchion legs piled into the ground to support the mounting frames for the thousand-plus solar panels.
To accommodate the increased grid connection, a transformer upgrade was required; these works were combined with the fitting of a new 1600amp bespoke distribution board to serve the entire site. These complex but critical works were all managed/completed within our inclusive contract.
In addition to the core solar array installation, we facilitated the design and installation of a sophisticated security system to provide our client with peace of mind that their investment was under 24/7/365 surveillance. This regrettably essential security requirement, the site's perimeter fencing, and the ongoing maintenance, monitoring and panel cleaning contracts all fall within our comprehensive turnkey package client offerings.
