This client was planning for the future; they had two trails of thought: 1) a reduced income in years to come when retiring could bring pressure to their disposable income due to the considerable running costs of their property. 2) if there were to ‘down-size’ in time to come, would the high running cost of such a large property be a negative from a sales perspective? The obvious answer to both concerns was to apply renewable technology to considerably reduce the monthly spend on electricity.
Our client favoured a ground-mount solar solution, and an ideal location was found after a site survey. We completed an energy consumption audit to ensure we had a full understanding of the existing energy consumption and discussed with our client their plans for the future. It transpired that the client also needed 22kW (3 phase) electric vehicle charging to accommodate their future motoring needs. We completed an initial draft design of the ground mount array and approached the local authority for planning approval, which was duly approved without any significant changes to the preferred design.
We are delighted to advise, the completed project has exceeded our client’s expectations on all levels but especially from an efficiency perspective. To date, their grid-supplied electricity has been reduced massively, and the large battery capacity ensures that the vast majority of consumption is via stored self-generated electricity, even during hours of darkness or poor generation periods.
We also completed the installation of Electrical vehicle (EV) charging with SMART integration. This provides the ultimate in Green Motoring because one mode charges your vehicle only from surplus self-generated electrical energy.
